Claire Catherine Danes is an American actress. She portrays Cora Seaborne in the Apple TV+ period drama, The Essex Serpent.
Biography[]
Danes is an award-winning actress, the recipient of two Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Primetime Emmy Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards. She first garnered recognition in 1994 on the teen drama My So-Called Life as Angela Chase, for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Over the next decade, she'd rise to stardom for her notable roles in films such as Little Women, Romeo + Juliet, The Rainmaker, Les Misérables, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. In 2011, Danes was cast in a lead role as Carrie Mathison in the Showtime drama Homeland. A year later, she was named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine named her, and in 2015, she was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
